The Lutheran Disaster Response Team of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is collecting donations to help those in need from the devastating fires in CA and throughout 15 other states. All donations (100%) will be used to support wildfire survivors.

Our sympathies to Jeanne Sims and her family. Jeanne’s sister Carrie died in Colorado Springs, August 4. Carrie’s memorial service will be in Amarillo, TX August 27. Also to Jeanne and her family on the death of Jeanne’s uncle Jackson Sims, August 10 in Alva, OK.

Bishop Deborah Hutterer of the Grand Canyon Synod recently sent a letter to encourage all Synod members to follow CDC guidelines. These guidelines currently recommend that everyone (even those who are fully vaccinated) wear a mask while inside buildings to help flatten the curve against the Delta variant of COVID-19.

University Lutheran Church and Campus Ministry continues to follow the CDC guidelines and requires masks for all worship and church functions. Thank you.

Our sympathies to the family of Pastor David L. Hurty. Pastor Hurty, 90, served as pastor to Church of the Good Shepherd (former name of University Lutheran) from 1956-1963. Pastor Hurty died May 7 in Oakland, CA. He is survived by wife Kathleen, four children, seven grand-children and 4 great-grandchildren.
