Reminder: New Zip Code for Tempe

The US Postal Service created a new zip code by splitting the 85281 zip code. This impacts about 13,000 residents or businesses in north Tempe.

The new zip code–85288–will affect Tempe residents between approximately 56th Street and the Loop 101 and University Drive and Roosevelt Street. The Postal Service added the 85288 zip code due to rapid growth in the Tempe area. Voter registration, driver licenses, business materials, and other vital documents will need to be updated with the new 85288 zip code.

The change took effect July 1, 2022, but mail will be delivered to either zip codes (85281 or 85288) for one year.

Mid-Week Lent Worship

During our Holden Evening Prayer mid-week Lent worship, we take time to gather around a cross, light a candle and offer a silent prayer. Thanks to Lutheran Campus Ministry (LCM) student, Isaac Humrich, for making the cross.

Midweek worship is Wednesday at 6:30 pm (each Wednesday through April 5th). All are invited. You can also watch via our live stream on our website.

Celebrating 70 Continues!

We will be having a catered meal* on Sunday, April 16 after worship. Join us as we continue to celebrate our 70th year. Share your University Lutheran and/or Lutheran Campus Ministry stories and memories.

Send us an email, a postcard, or call us and let us know your history with us. We will share these stories and memories at our 4/16 celebration. We will also feature one or two each week on our website and e-newsletter.

Bread For The World

Bread for the World is a collective Christian voice urging our nation’s decision-makers to end hunger at home and abroad. Read the AZ Fact sheet and a summary of the Farm Bill here.

In the letters we write to our elected officials this year, the focus will be on ensuring that the 2023 Farm Bill is passed. The bill developed out of many meetings with grassroots organizers as well as staff of relevant congressional members. Its comprehensive focus is on building a healthy, equitable sustainable food system by way of the Farm Bill.

The March 5th Forum updated us on the progress of the Bill. An insert in the Sunday (March 5th) bulletin had further facts and a sample letter. You can also view here. Thank you to Ruth Wootten for all her work and presenting our March 5th forum.
