Rebecca Sherod
Freshman, Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education Major
Why did you choose that major? I really love kids, and I like working with kids. I like the idea of giving kids a good start in their education.
Why did you choose to go to ASU? It wasn’t really a choice. I had a family tradition to carry on (Rebecca is the fourth Sherod to attend ASU; her older sister, Colleen, currently attends with her!), and ASU was where I wanted to go. ASU has a really good education college.
What are your plans for after graduation? To leave the state (haha). I want to go to a state that has seasons.
Maybe go to Grad School, maybe teach? I don’t know (haha).
Why did you come to LCM? This was the school Maggie (one of her older sisters) went to, and Colleen currently goes here. It was assumed that I would come to LCM, but I also wanted to come. I had visited Maggie and Colleen and met people here who were nice. It seemed like a good church home.
What is your favorite thing about LCM? I like that the Sunday services are a good mixture of Catholic and contemporary. I really like the people—how welcoming and including everyone is. I like the atmosphere—everyone seems to have a good time. LCM makes me want to come to church; it makes me look forward to church.
What role has LCM played in your college life? It has introduced me to new people, and it has helped me to maintain my faith while at school.
What are some of your hobbies/interests? I am on the ASU Crew Team (rowing)! I like to read, and I run a lot.
What is an interesting fact about yourself? I am legally a giant! For a woman at my age and over 6 feet tall, I am categorized as a giant.
If you had a magic carpet that took you anywhere at any time, where/when would you go and why? I would go back in time and meet Zelda Fitzgerald. I read a biography about her and fell in love with her and her story.
