‘Tis The Season…Almost!
We will soon be putting envelopes in the chairs for Christmas decorations. If you prefer, you can give online or mail a check (340 E 15th Street/Tempe/AZ/85281). However you chose to give, please mark your offering “decorations”.
You can also text your donation: 480-878-7977. Please put ChristmasDecor after your amount to ensure your text giving donation goes towards our decorations. Text giving and online giving are safe and secure. Church members can also donate through their Breeze profile.
We will have at least one tree. Trees are about $70.00. If you would like to honor or memorialize a loved one, please let us know that information. You can email the church office info@ulctempe.org or submit a form in the offering plate.
Advent Worship will be December 1st, 8th, and 15th at 6:30 pm. Join us for our Holden Evening Prayer service; masks required.

Attention K-Mart Shoppers!
Ah, did we catch your attention with this headline? We hope so. This is regarding announcements Sunday morning in worship. We have been receiving several concerns from live-stream viewers that announcements are not miked and cannot be heard, so viewers are turning off the service before completion of worship.
We don’t want Pastor Gary or an usher or anyone scrambling around like Phil Donahue with a mic to those making announcements. That is not activity conducive to worship. If you need to make an announcement please speak before worship to Pastor Gary. We will figure out how to, perhaps, come forward to use a mic or, instead, let Pastor Gary make the announcement. If a particular person needs to be identified, they could stand or be pointed out by Pastor Gary.
As always, the best announcements are those reminding people of something they already know. That means for various programs, meetings, etc. it is always best if we can include it first in the newsletter and congregational emails. And, when making announcements, remember this is going live-stream onto the internet. What goes out there can remain forever, so be careful when making and announcement about names and details you might not want those beyond our community to know.
Thanks for your understanding!!

You’re invited to join Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton and guidebook author and travel TV host Rick Steves in celebrating World Food Day!
“A People of Hope: Until All Are Fed,” an online benefit for ELCA World Hunger, will feature Steves interviewing people on the ground who do the dynamic work of fighting hunger around the world. Special guests include the Rev. David Beckmann, who is being honored for his lifelong service to end hunger; the Rev. Rebel Hurd; missionaries Willie and Anne Langdji; and the Rev. Rafael Malpica Padilla. There will also be special performances by Rachel Kurtz, Peter Mayer and the St. Olaf Choir. Join us as we hear compelling stories, listen to wonderful music and gather together in fellowship to invest in this life-giving work.
As a church, we remain focused on supporting our neighbors near and far as the pandemic continues disrupting and impacting lives. At this event, you will learn about the ways ELCA World Hunger is responding. No one is better positioned or more experienced than the church in addressing hunger, from meeting immediate needs to finding long-term solutions. We are ready, able, effective and efficient. We hope you’ll join us!
