Congratulations!
Reverend Jacqui Pagel celebrates 13 years of her ordination on June 12, 2023. Jacqui is a member at University Lutheran and is the Bishop’s Associate for Candidacy and Faith Formation at the Grand Canyon Synod.
Congratulations, Jacqui!
Tree Removal
On Friday, June 23, the two Aleppo pine trees on the west side of the Campus Center near the sanctuary entrance were removed. Both had quite a bit of dead branches on them and one was leaning and we were told that it was going to fall over. So for the safety of everyone and everything, Council approved the trees be removed.
The removal is completed, but they need to return for the stump removal. This will be done and completed next week.
We’re Back!
The office has a new floor and a fresh coat of paint. We have moved back in! We still need to hang some pictures and unpack a bit, but we are up and running!
Thank you for all your patience, cooperation, and understanding as we were under construction. It is greatly appreciated.
Synod Assembly 2023
Pastor Gary, Scott Boyden, and I attended the Grand Canyon Synod Assembly, June 9-10. at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Oro Valley, Arizona, north of Tucson. “Be Bold in Your Baptism” themed the agenda for over 300 participants. Through a reaffirmation of our baptism we were ‘sprinkled’ with water tossed from evergreen branches. Baptism provides us with opportunities to grow—baptism should make us live differently and boldly.
The Assembly included worship, devotions, speakers, Ministry Partner Tables representing the Synod outreach across Arizona and the world. Clergy milestones of recognition, retirement and remembrance were acknowledged. On Friday evening participants explored the Tucson Children’s Museum while enjoying snacks and beverages—an opportunity for small group interaction and fun. We all enjoyed the splendid hospitality from Resurrection.
